You might be right, but I still advise against letting your outer appearance reflect your inner discouragement.   When you’re in a job search, especially if you’re in a smaller town, you are always “on.” Your appearance  clothes, grooming and general energy level   are all a part of how people perceive you at first glance.   And that first glance will also be a part of how they size you up for success.   Even if you’re a bit discouraged about how your search is going, you want to look like a confident winner.   A shabby, disheveled appearance can broadcast your discouragement from blocks away before you ever say a word. How can you dress comfortably, but still look professional and confident?   Here are a few tips. Take a moment to make sure your hair is in order â€" clean and neat. We love to joke about Bad Hair Days, but theyre actually a pretty spot on metaphor for being a mess on the inside as well. If your hair just isn’t ready for prime time, find a flattering baseball cap or scarf that will cover the problem with style. Ditch the tee shirts in favor of casual collared shirts. This is a unisex piece of advice.   There are plenty of casual styles that are cool and comfortable and present a more professional appearance.   Keep one or two clean and pressed as your go-to outfit for running errands where you might be noticed. Wear colors that flatter you and make you feel good. (When in doubt, ask a friend.) Everyone has a shirt or an outfit that gets you compliments every time you wear it.   You probably also have something that makes people think you had a bad night every time you wear it.   It’s simple; given a choice, wear the colors that work. Speaking of colors, bold classics like red and navy blue and neutrals like black, white and khaki look polished and professional, even in casual clothes. When worn in solid blocks of color, they are also more slimming than patterns and prints. Invest in great accessories if you can. A bag or knapsack that holds your gear and paperwork in style doesn’t have to cost that much, but it will make you seem pulled together when you’re out running errands.   You’ll feel more in control and confident when you can find what you need easily.   Make sure you pack your personal business cards whenever you go out; you never know when you may meet someone you’d like to get back in touch with. Stylish sunglasses are not just cool; they also provide cover for tired eyes and no-makeup days. A quick hit of lip gloss or lipstick also brightens your whole face and draws attention away from dark circles or other evidence that you’[re not at your best. Taking just a few minutes to look better will also make you feel better. And feeling better is a first step to making good things happen. Take a moment before going out to be grateful for one of the blessings in your life: friends or family, having a safe place to stay at night, even the weather. When you find something to smile about, you’ll find people notice you and smile back. Your more positive attitude may even be contagious â€" you never know the effect you may be having on someone whose troubles outweigh your own. And remember that tomorrow’s a new day. It might be the day everything changes for the better.

No matter how mature you get, you encounter liquor at every aspect of your life. Some enjoy it a lot; some consume it just to be accepted among some people. The reasons are many, the drink is just the same and so are its adverse effects. Giving Up Alcohol Giving up alcohol is a long debated topic. May people have tried, many have failed, but most of the successful ones have given up on it. You get many benefits after you give up alcohol. Putting down that glass forever can simply change your life. You will notice that you are performing better in your office, your business dealings are going fine, you are actually saving money, you are more focussed and your problems are steadily disappearing. It goes without saying that giving up alcohol can increase your productivity. Whether you are an entrepreneur or you are a professional working in some big organization; whether you are an intern or a fresh graduate who recently got a job. You will notice that once you have given up on alcohol, you can not only focus on your work better, you get less sleepy, you listen better, your memory improves, you become more attentive and even a better human being. Save Time Giving up alcohol can also save a lot of your time. This is because drinking takes a lot of time and hangovers take even more. People waste good time in the mornings just because you had been drinking last night. Although they don’t remember what was happening in all that time they were wasting, but they waste even more to get out of it. And what happens when you don’t drink? You go to bet on time, you wake up early and fresh. You utilize all these time making your life better. You become more productive utilizing his extra time and your problems start vanishing away. It happens like magic and leaves you a happier person. Abandoning alcohol for good allows you to focus better. You become a sharper person and have the capacity to pay attention to the slightest details. You memory improves and you can remember and understand much with very little effort. All these things enable you to perform better in office and become exceedingly productive. Social Life Getting drunk can take your problems away, but the person it leaves behind isn’t a very pleasant one. This person is the architect of his/her own destruction and will stop at no length to destroy everything he/she holds dear. Giving up alcohol can help you in strengthening your bonds with your family and friends. You become a better person and your relations with people improve. These good relations give you a boost in your daily work and thus you have more people to help you out. This increases your productivity greatly. Leaving the habit of drinking can also improve your health a lot. You will lose fat quicker, get in shape faster and have less stress at work. There won’t be any pestering migraines putting you off the things you have to do and everything will just magically fall in place. Giving up alcohol makes you a better person, with a sharper mind, better relations and a healthier body. If these benefits are not enough, I don’t know what will be, but if you find them sufficient, work hard on giving up this habit. These were some of the benefits of giving up alcohol. In the book, it is revealed how hard Steve Jobs was trying to win him over as the new CEO of Apple. Jobs finally sealed the deal by asking this question. When someone asks a question like that, it is hard to refuse such a compelling vision.Right from the moment, Apple was created, Steve Jobs’ vision wa s not to just sell computers â€" but to give every person the opportunity to improve their lives.One thing you will read in any Leadership book is about the power of vision. Having a strong vision is important whether you are a leader or not. A vision gives provides you a strong pull towards the future.evalHowever, having a strong sense of purpose magnifies your commitment to what you are doing even stronger. It becomes a sort of a calling.Right from the beginning Jobs inspired his early employees to build things that their customers would love to own. Being able to change our customers’ lives is more motivating than just showing profits on the balance sheet. People are more excited to work for a leader who imbibes that sense of purpose onto them.2) Attention to the Detail“But in the end, when I think about leadership, passion, and attention to detail, I think back to the call I received from Steve Jobs on a Sunday morning in January. It was a lesson I’ll never forget. CEOs should care about details. Even shades of yellow. Steve Jobs mentioned that it was an urgent issue and it needed to be addressed right away.It was regarding the Google Plus icon on the iPhone. On the other side, you hear about how they valued the experience. It allowed them to be the best version of themselves. It brought out the best in them.He believed in keeping only A players on the team. And almost everyone who stayed in the teams (Apple, NEXT, Pixar) stretched themselves to become A Players.When the leader sets extremely high standards, employees tend to stretch themselves to improve their capabilities.I know this is controversial. You might have read about how having an empathetic, caring, loving boss encourages employees to do their best , and other feel-good stories. But seriously, how many of us have been inspired by a tough leader as opposed to a non-controversial Mr. nice guy type of boss?As a leade r, it is imperative to set very high standards for yourself and those around you. This will inspire them to bring out the best in them. They will put in the necessary action to make the vision a reality.4) Keep it simple“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”â€" Apple’s First Marketing Brochure in 1977.Whether you love Apple products or not, you will agree that the products are simple to use. Everything â€" the design, the layout, the settings, etc. It is designed for the average user. I have owned 3 iPods in the last 5 years. Anyone can use them.Simplicity has been the core of Apple’s Products right from the beginning. Jobs always wanted to make things that were intuitively obvious for the end-user.When Steve Jobs returned to Apple in 1997, his first business decision was to trim a lot of products. At that time there were more than dozens of products. Jobs decided to axe more than 70% of the products then. This helped him to re-focus Apple to a few core products and wa s able to turn the company into profitability- and invest in new products that became the hallmark of the current Apple.One of the strong suits of a leader is the ability to articulate the goals, plans, visions to his/her followers in the simplest way possible. The same goes for customers -the simpler the better. Motivation Monday Slow Down, You Move Too Fast This weeks motivation  is about when to do NOTHING!    Are there times when doing absolutely nothing is better than doing something?  These are counter-intuitive productivity pointers  come from a post on 99U, a site for design professionals. 5 Ways to Do Nothing and Become More Productive  by  James Altucher Never do anything when you are angry, paranoid, anxious, tired or want to make someone happy. Doing Nothing Is Smarter Think about the times youve responded (reacted) to an accusatory email- how did that work out for you? Would doing nothing have been smarter? What about the times you keep trying and trying to teach yourself something and the more you try the more tired you get? Go to sleep and wake up smarter! Paranoia and anxiety are irrational emotions. When was the last time you made sense when you were thinking irrationally? Let me add, never do anything while you are sick. (This was my logic for doing NOTHING last week!) The brain doesnt work well, you arent thinking clearly and youll make mistakes.  Instead, use your sick time to heal- mentally and physically! Do absolutely nothing and relish in it! When you are feeling well again, chances are, youll be rearing to go! Doing Just For the Sake of Doing If you are just going through the motions you might as well stop right now. You need a goal, mission, purpose, something to drive and motivate you, otherwise, youre spinning your wheels. Think Then Do Some of us perform best after weve plotted it out in our head. It is OK to spend some time thinking- but dont get stuck here. Plan to move!
